LEVEL 1 & 2 AWARD IN FOOD SAFETY
The Level 1 Award qualification has been developed to raise awareness of key food safety issues and to provide employees with an induction to food hygiene, prior to undertaking the Level 2 Award in Food Safety.
The Level 2 Award qualification has been developed to address the growing need to make learning more relevant to specific business enviornments and meet the National Occupational Standards.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
Depending on what level you study, you'll cover things like:

The basic requirments of food safety and hygiene

How to keep clean and hygenic

How to keep work areas clean
-
The role an individual plays in reducing contamination

Key food safety issues
-
Food safety systems, techniques and procedures
-
Controlling food safety risks
WHICH LEVEL IS RIGHT FOR ME?
Level 1 - will suit you if you are a new employee with minimal or no prior food safety knowledge, or if you handle low-risk or wrapped foods, if you work in front of house or back of house as a waiter or kitchen porter etc.
Level 2 - is ideal if you're working in a catering, manufacturing or retail setting where food is prepared, cooked and handled. Typical enviornments you could work in may incluce: pubs, hotels, resturants, supermarkets, care homes, schools and hospitals.
